“But he should also structure the service in such a way that worshipers are reminded of how they came to Christ and continue in him. So the pastor calls people to worship as God calls them to Christ. Worshipers praise God for his call and invoke his presence. They confess their sins and hear God’s pardoning grace through Christ. After assurance of forgiveness, they boldly come into the Father’s presence through prayer, knowing that the Spirit intercedes for them. About George Robertson

George Robertson, PhD, is the senior pastor at Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN, and a council member for The Gospel Coalition. He previously served as a lecturer and adjunct professor at Covenant Theological Seminary.

Dr. Robertson earned his baccalaureate degree from Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA, his Master in Divinity and Master in Theology degrees from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO, and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Historical and Theological Studies from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA. Before he became a pastor at Second Presbyterian Church, he served as Senior Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Augusta, GA, pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, and as lecturer/adjunct professor at Covenant Theological Seminary.

He is the author of Soul Anatomy: Finding Peace, Hope, and Joy in the Psalms. He is married to Jackie and they have four children.
