Overview

From before the days of Messiah until today, Jewish people have read from and discussed a prescribed portion of the Pentateuch each week. Now, Russ Resnik, a Messianic Jewish rabbi, has added his voice to the ancient conversation about the Torah. With reference to and respect for the rabbis who have already contributed to this conversation, he brings another perspective on the Torah, that of a Messianic Jew, a Jew who follows Messiah Yeshua.

“Jacob can be greedy and calculating, but he is greedy for what counts, and this is the source of his greatness. Torah does not promote moral relativity, but it does portray life realistically. God responds not only to the saintly and morally pure, but also to those who put him first. These he will purify, just as he will purify Jacob by the hand of Laban during his years of exile.” (Page 33)

“‘God tests those who are to carry forth his mission; the result is the development of moral character.’” (Page 10)

“God pronounces ‘It is good’ to demonstrate that he not only creates the physical world, but he also creates meaning. He creates not only things, but value. We have, then, both the creative word from God and the defining word from God. We dwell in a universe that is not only material, but also ultimately moral.” (Page 12)

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.’” (Page 125)

“There is a further lesson in our parasha. Moses’ instruction that” (Page 87)

Russ Resnik encountered Jesus (Yeshua) in the early 1970s. He founded and was the first rabbi of Adat Yeshua, a Messianic congregation in Albuquerque. Today, he serves as executive director of the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations, an association that establishes, strengthens, and multiplies congregations for Yeshua. He authored Gateways to Torah, his first work on the Five Books of Moses, written from a Messianic Jewish perspective. Russ and his wife Jane live in Albuquerque and have four children and six grandchildren.

In 1941, The United States is drawn into World War II. During that same year, Dr. Henry Einspruch publishes his classic book, The Yiddish New Testament, a breakthrough in evangelistic literature for Jewish people. Over the following decades, the publications of Lederer/Messianic Jewish Communications have been widely used to impact thousands of Jewish people with the Good News of Messiah. These books and tracts have been distributed in the Orthodox Jewish community, have been given out to Jews in the former Soviet Union, and have been used by Messianic congregations and Jewish outreaches all over the world. Messianic Jewish Publishers mission is two-pronged: Reaching out to Jewish people with the message of Messiah and teaching the non-Jewish spiritual family about their Jewish roots.
