Overview

The Christian Counselor’s New Testament and Proverbs features Dr. Adams’ original translation of the Greek text to which he has added helpful notes and cross-references, which will be of help to the counselor. In the back, he has appended a section of helps which include counseling outlines, check-lists, a topical index, charts, and more. The Christian Counselor’s New Testament is designed as a working tool that may be used during counseling sessions. Every decision regarding content and format has been made on the basis of whether it would prove useful in doing the work of counseling. This is not a study Bible, although the student will find in it much that will enable them to do studies of various sorts. This resource contains the Bible text.

Most Highlighted Verses in The Christian Counselor’s New Testament and Proverbs: Text

Luke 6:39–41: He also told them a parable: Can a blind man guide a blind man? Won’t they both fall into the ditch? A disciple isn’t above his teacher; but everybody who has been thoroughly trained will be like his teacher. Why do you see the splinter in your brother’s eye but refuse to take notice of the board in your own eye?

John 8:44: You are from your father the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and didn’t remain in the truth because the truth isn’t in him. When he lies, he speaks from his own nature, since he is a liar and the father of it.

Romans 7:21–23: So then, I discover that it is a law that whenever I want to do a fine thing, I am aware of evil. I delight in God’s law in my inner person, but I see a different law in my bodily members fighting against the law of my mind and holding me captive to sin’s law that is in my members.

1 Corinthians 6:9–11: Don’t you know that the unrighteous won’t inherit God’s kingdom? Don’t be misled—neither those who are sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor robbers will inherit God’s kingdom. These are what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were declared righteous in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Ephesians 4:22–24: You were taught regarding your previous habit patterns to put off the old person that you were, who is corrupted by deceitful desires, being rejuvenated in the attitude of your mind, and to put on the new person that you are, who is created in God’s likeness with righteousness and holiness that come from the truth,

Ephesians 4:26: Be angry, but don’t sin; don’t let the sun set on your angry mood.

Ephesians 4:28–29: The thief must stop stealing; instead he must labor, working with his own hands at honest work, so that he may have something to share with those who have need. Don’t let a single rotten word come from your mouths, but rather, whatever is good for constructively meeting problems that arise, so that your words may help those who hear.

Philippians 2:3–5: Do nothing out of selfishness or vanity, but rather in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should not only look out for his own interests but also the interests of others. You must think about yourselves what Christ Jesus thought about Himself.

2 Timothy 2:24–26: and the Lord’s slave must not fight, but rather must be gentle toward everyone, teachable, tolerant, in meekness correcting those who oppose, in hope that God may bring them by repentance into the full knowledge of the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap—having been captured by him—to do His will.

2 Timothy 3:16–17: All Scripture is breathed out by God and useful for teaching, for conviction, for correction and for disciplined training in righteousness, in order to completely fit and fully equip the man from God for every good task.
