Overview

Commonly understood as the first theologian of the Christian faith, Paul set forth the categories by which we describe our relationship with Christ. Did he understand the new covenant Jesus announced at the Last Supper primarily as a replacement of the old Mosaic covenant God made with Israel, or as a renewal and completion of the old? Jason Meyer surveys the various differences that have been argued between the two covenants in The End of the Law, carefully and inductively performing a semantic, grammatical, and contextual analysis of all the Pauline texts dealing with covenant concepts.

Book seven of the New American Commentary Studies in Bible & Theology series, an extension of the long-respected New American Commentary.

Buyer beware. I have a print copy of this book and purchased a Logos copy which is advertised as a Logos Research Edition. I discovered that it is formatted more like a Logos Ebook – including having no page numbering (click on ‘See Inside’ and you will see no page numbers in the preview). While it is part of the NAC Studies in Bible & Theology series – and I have nine other titles from the series in my Logos Library (all formatted correctly) – ‘The End of the Law’ is not linked in any way to that series on Logos (search for the series and you will find it does not appear in the search results while the other nine titles do). Very disappointed, I complained to Logos. While Logos admitted that the volume didn’t measure up to Logos Research Edition requirements and promised to sort it out, no action has been taken. I returned my copy and obtained a refund. It’s still a mystery why this very basic fault remains unremedied – but the book is still being offered as a Logos Research Edition (false advertising).
