David Masson (1822–1907) was a Scottish historian and literary critic. He served as professor of English literature at the University of London, served as editor of Macmillian Magazine, advocated on behalf of women for advanced education. He was named a Historian Royale and served as chairman of the Scottish History Society. His works include a biography of Thomas de Quincey, part of the 39 volume series English Men of Letters.
