The writing of Martin Luther King Jr. and Other Poems gestated in 2018 shortly after the successful completion and publication of Yoruba Philosophy and the Seeds of Enlightenment. The poetry work is divided into eight parts. While part 1 is the masthead--the poetic biography of Martin Luther King Jr.--part 2 through part 8 is a crown of jewels worn by many heads, poetizing and epigrammatizing in the calm strength of knowledge and humanity, cognate with the constructive metabolism.
“In this well thought out collection reflecting on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from his beginning through his chosen path to share the word of God and light for civil rights, Yemi D. Ogunyemi allows us to see King live out his ‘prophetic dream.’ [ . . . ] Ogunyemi continues the reflection of King’s influence on the psyche of our nation and the world. This collection is both poetic and historic, making it ever so important in the climate we currently are living in due to the results of the 2024 presidential election and its consequential destruction of the principles of King’s ‘Dream.’”
