This book puts you in the driver's seat as a reader of God's word, no longer dependent on the Bible translation you may be using, as we explore more than sixty biblical words where knowing a little Greek or Hebrew can make a remarkable difference in how we read passages which use those words. Having enough options and enough data to make such translation choices for yourself can be fun!
“Tom Hobson’s book Fun with Biblical Words is exactly that: FUN. The table of contents intrigued me immediately. I went right for the topic I was teaching and found insights needed, saving me hours of research. This is a great handbook for students, teachers, lay leaders, and pastors. I now feel confident using the words as I preach and teach. So will you! This is going to be fun. Thanks Tom.”

Using his well-rounded research and understanding, he encourages readers of the Bible to slow down and reflect on some of the words we would otherwise gloss over quickly. This book is a must read for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding and faith. It inspires appreciation for the story of God in the Holy Scripture.”

“Tom Hobson has done a service to the church with this helpful book, designed to allow those who have not had the opportunity to learn the biblical languages to understand the linguistic questions at play in various tricky passages in the Bible. Even better, Hobson has done this in an engaging and accessible way. Greek and Hebrew can be intimidating, even to those who have studied them, but Hobson’s clear, welcoming approach allows readers to get beyond the strangeness of the languages in order to learn more about what the Bible is saying to us. Hobson shows respect for his readers in that he is content to lay out the possible ways in which key words can be understood, leaving room for us to make our own decisions about what the text is saying. All in all, a very useful book for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of Scripture.”
