It's a well-known fact that Christianity is slowly dying in the West. While there are many factors contributing to this decline, the most significant one is biblical belief. More and more people are finding the beliefs outlined in the Bible unbelievable. As a result, the time has come to have a conversation on what a post-biblical Christian faith might look like. This book begins that conversation.
“The title of this book presents a most challenging task—describing a Christianity without the Bible. Impossible, you say! And yet Rick Herrick illustrates inconsistencies in the Bible that should make us realize the book is not infallible and that belief in what it says cannot be the essence of faith. The church must go beyond a literal reading of the Bible and find ways to focus on what Herrick calls love of the heart. It is a herculean task, but Herrick does not back down, offering a path for the church to head into the future.”
—Carl Krieg, author of How the Rich Stole Jesus
“Toward a Post-Biblical Christian Future challenges today’s Christians to stop focusing on biblical authority, with its many historical inaccuracies, and return to the essential teaching of Jesus—to bring God’s love into the world. With a vital message for our time, Rick Herrick’s new book affirms a post-biblical Christian faith, with churches promoting greater compassion, healing, understanding, and love for one another and our world.”
—Diane Dreher, author of The Tao of Inner Peace
