The New King James Version is a complete update of the 1611 King James Version, also known as the "Authorized Version." The editors made efforts to preserve the original KJV Bible's format while modernizing the English it contains. The result is what many would consider much better "readability."

• The NKJV also modernized verb forms, using "speaks" rather than “speaketh.”
