Overview

The wisdom found in God’s Word is timeless, as relevant today as when it was first written. And the challenge for believers remains unchanged: how do we apply these truths to our everyday world? The Applied Commentary series is a fresh approach to Bible study, connecting great wisdom with your life today. Each Scripture passage is enhanced with insights on key themes and ideas. Featured articles provide a deeper look at essential concepts, while the contemporary language allows for easy reading.

The Applied Commentary series is an interactive approach to Scripture that will challenge your ideas and build your faith—which is what reading the Bible is all about. With Logos, you can use these volumes more efficiently for Bible study. Every word from every book has been indexed and cataloged to help you search the series for a particular verse or topic. With Logos, this series will integrate into the Passage Guide. Whenever you enter your passage and click go, results from this commentary series will appear on the text you’re studying. This gives you instant access to exactly what you’re looking for in less time than it would take you to walk over to the bookshelf and flip through a print volume.

Praise for the Print Edition

Dr. Tom Hale is a retired medical missionary who served in Nepal, and his book is essentially a missionary's commentary. Although he has done his biblical homework, and he thinks theologically, he does not write from the ivory tower of academia. His concern is rather for the grass roots of newly planted churches. He is familiar with the problems they face and the questions they ask. He wrestles with the need for cross-cultural application. He is committed to the unity of the church and urges us to give one another the liberty of interpretation in those secondary areas in which we disagree. And his straightforward, easy-to-read style includes both a simple vocabulary and short sentences. Inevitably a one-man commentary will not please everybody. But he has struggled to rid himself of bias, so that there is very much here for all Bible students to learn, whatever their cultural denominational background.

—John Stott, All Souls, Langham Place, London

As someone who is committed to communicate Christian faith, I applaud the depth, clarity, simplicity, and relevance of the . . . commentary. Its thoroughness yet accessibility makes it an invaluable resource for Christians—both old and new.

—J. John, The Philo Trust
