Overview

While nearly all branches of Christianity would lay claim to grace as the primary foundation for our future in heaven, there is a wide divergence of opinion on just what that means.

The understanding of grace among different factions within Christianity depends heavily on one’s understanding of justification, regeneration, sanctification, repentance, faith, and other biblical topics presented in this book. The author holds that grace is free, not in the sense of being cheap or easy, but as a free gift (Ephesians 2:9) with no strings attached, in contrast to Arminian or Calvinist soteriologies, which add requirements on the “front end” and “back end” of salvation. The Free Grace position, a biblical alternative to these systems of soteriology, is presented as a corollary of dispensationalism, affirming that God’s “so great salvation” is absolutely free.

In the Logos edition of Free Grace Soteriology, you get easy access to Scripture texts and to a wealth of other resources in your digital library. Hovering over Scripture references links you instantly to the verse you’re looking for, and with a wealth of other tools from Logos, you can delve into your study of salvation like never before!

“In good exegesis, the parts must add up to the whole, and then the whole will help us understand the parts (this is called the hermeneutical circle).” (Page 5)

“Biblical Theology. Whereas the latter takes a specific book and tries to determine the theology taught in that book, the former tries to take into account the entire teaching of God’s Word on a particular doctrine. We might call Biblical Theology the ‘worm’s view’ and Systematic Theology the ‘bird’s view.’” (Page 1)

A sound and sensible response to the harsh tone of Reformed theology. Grace is problematic to those who rely upon works, performance or subjective standards for justification. Text based and context driven. Excellent work!

It is very exciting to see one of my GSOT Professors have this excellent course in Soteriology now being offered as part of the Logos library. It's written in an easy going style, but don't let that fool you. It offers an in-depth and theologically sound argument of Ephesians 2:8-9.
