Nee-To-Sheng of Foochow, China is known as Watchman Nee to hundreds of thousands of Christians around the world who have encountered his books. The Release of the Spirit is one of his most powerfully challenging works. Watchman Nee exhorts believers that through the breaking of the outward man there comes a release of the inward Spirit. By means of our brokenness the Spirit rejuvenates our faith and makes us fit for service. // Watchman Nee knew about suffering. In his native China he suffered as a Christian. Watchman Nee was a Chinese Christian author and church leader during the early 20th century. He spent the last 20 years of his life in prison and was severely persecuted by the Communists in China. Together with Wangzai, Zhou-An Lee, Shang-Jie Song, and others, Nee founded The Church Assembly Hall, later which would be also known as the “Local churches”.
