Joe Rigney gelingt in „More Than a Battle“ etwas, das viele Bücher zum Thema sexuelle Reinheit nicht schaffen: Er verbindet biblische Tiefe mit psychologischem Feingefühl und echter praktischer Hilfestellung. Schon im ersten Kapitel macht er deutlich, dass wir nur dann Sieg und Freiheit erleben, wenn wir das Thema ganzheitlich betrachten – durch drei Linsen: Unmoral, Gebundenheit und Zerbrochenheit. Der Heilige Geist, so Rigney, tötet die Sünde, befreit aus Ketten und heilt die innere Wunde. Das Buch ist entlang von Galater 5 aufgebaut, wo Paulus vom Konflikt zwischen Fleisch und Geist spricht. Rigneys zentrales Anliegen: Wer im Geist lebt, soll auch durch den Geist wandeln – und genau darin liegt der Schlüssel zur Freiheit von sexueller Versuchung. Diese Linie zieht sich konsequent durch alle Kapitel. Besonders hilfreich ist, dass Rigney nicht nur die „Betroffenen“ anspricht, sondern auch Mentoren, Ehepartner und Seelsorger – jeder Abschnitt enthält praxisnahe Hilfen, Reflexionsfragen und theologische Klarheit. Auch die Kapitel für junge Männer (Single, Dating, verlobt) und verheiratete Männer sind ausgesprochen realistisch und seelsorgerlich stark. Das Buch vermeidet platte Moralpredigten und geht stattdessen tief in die geistliche und emotionale Dynamik des Themas hinein. Es hilft zu verstehen, warum wir fallen, und zeigt, wie echte Heilung aussehen kann. Fazit: Ein ehrliches, durchdachtes und geistlich reifes Buch, das weder verurteilt noch verharmlost. Wer sich mit dem Thema Lust, Reinheit und Wiederherstellung auseinandersetzt – ob selbst betroffen oder als Begleiter – findet hier ein kraftvolles, biblisch fundiertes Werkzeug. Uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen.
