Overview

This quarter’s Study Themes are: “Living for Another World in This World,”“Believer’s Handbook 101,” and“Believer’s Handbook 201.” A host of concerns keep today’s adults focused on this world and its worries and cares. Adults, like their children, face the desire to be accepted and the pressure to conform to the expectations of others. The Study Theme “Living for Another Word in This World” is based on lessons from Daniel 1–5 and seeks to remind Christians that this world is not our final home.

“Believer’s Handbook 101” and “Believer’s Handbook 201” are based on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5–7.

The lessons for October focus on the qualities of the blessed Christian life, impacting society for Christ, righteousness as one’s heart attitude, and practicing honesty and loving one’s enemies. The lessons for November focus on God’s approval of one’s religious practices, trusting God for all necessities, seeing clearly the believers’ right relationships with God and others, and deciding to believe in Jesus and follow His teachings.

The Herschel Hobbs Commentary contains expository treatment of each lesson passage in the adult Bible Studies for Life curriculum for this quarter. The approach begins with the “Significance of the Lesson,” moves to “Search the Scriptures,” and concludes with “Spiritual Transformations.” Greek and Hebrew words are explained, the message of the Scripture is clarified, and its truth is applied to life. The Bible exposition is based on the King James Version.
