This quarter’s Study Themes are: “Know God,”“Discipleship: The Epic Adventure,” and“Confront Casual Christianity.” The four-session Study Theme “Know God,” based on Mark 1–10, is designed to help learners know Jesus as the unique Son of God. Learners will observe His life as an example for us, and the realities of being His disciple.
“Discipleship: The Epic Adventure,” a four-session Study Theme based on Mark 11–16, presents Jesus as the ultimate Hero who invites His followers to a journey with Him that is full of challenge, intrigue, power, and victory. Jesus challenges us to a life that is anything but mundane!
“Confront Casual Christianity,” a five-session Study Theme based on the Letter of James, guides believers to express their faith by who they are, how they think, and what they do. This study is important challenges believers to allow God’s Word to transform every aspect of their lives.
The Herschel Hobbs Commentary contains expository treatment of each lesson passage in the adult Bible Studies for Life curriculum for this quarter. The approach begins with the “Significance of the Lesson,” moves to “Search the Scriptures,” and concludes with “Spiritual Transformations.” Greek and Hebrew words are explained, the message of the Scripture is clarified, and its truth is applied to life. The Bible exposition is based on the King James Version.
