Top Highlights

“The present book of essays responds to two crises precipitated by Enlightenment and post-Enlightenment developments in biblical interpretation respectively: to the modern schism between biblical studies and theology, and to the postmodern proliferation of ‘advocacy’ approaches to reading Scripture where each interpretative community does what is right in its own eyes.” (Page 17)

“Theological interpretation is not simply what dogmatic theologians do when they use the Bible to support their respective doctrinal positions.” (Page 16)

“biblical studies a theological discipline? By and large, the resounding answer” (Page 20)
