Overview
In his first encyclical—written only a few months into both his pontificate and World War I—Pope Benedict XV wrote this heartfelt appeal for peace. He points out that it is no coincidence that such a terrible war has sprung up at a time when world rulers are setting aside Christ. He implores the leaders to return to Christian principles and the love of Christ in order to restore peace. This resource contains the Latin text.
