For nearly 30 years, the Journal of Biblical Counseling (previously the Journal of Pastoral Practice) of CCEF (the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation) has provided a forum for biblical counseling’s development and application. The journal’s mission is to develop clear thinking and effective practice in biblical counseling through articles that faithfully bring the God of truth, mercy, and power to the issues faced by ministries of counseling and discipleship.
“How did I change? I was changed because God intervened personally, repeatedly, patiently. I was changed because Scripture’s words of care and consolation invited me to my Father. I was changed because many friends were faithful. I was changed because of struggling with the pressures of life and uneasy feelings. I changed because I turned away from living as though I walked alone in a difficult universe, and I turned to the Lord who is near.” (Volume 27, Number 2, Page 41)
“How on earth did I change? I was changed because God intervened personally. I was changed because words of Scripture invited me into Christ. I was changed because a friend was faithful and honest. I was changed because of failure, guilt, suffering, and disillusionment. I changed because I turned from sin to Christ.” (Volume 27, Number 2, Page 39)
“You are 100% responsible, and yet you are 100% dependent on outside help” (Volume 27, Number 2, Page 49)
“Fourth, suffering, struggle, and troubles change us. God works on us in the midst of trouble, because trouble catches our attention. Difficulties make us need him. Faith has to sink roots, as profession deepens into reality.” (Volume 27, Number 2, Page 48)
“Jesus engages each person and situation in a personalized way. It is no truism to say that Jesus really does meet you where you are. Always.” (Volume 27, Number 2, Page 36)
