Nimi Wariboko is a distinguished scholar and the Walter G. Muelder Professor of Social Ethics at Boston University’s School of Theology. Born in Abonnema, Rivers State, Nigeria, he has a multifaceted academic and professional background that integrates economics, finance, theology, and ethics. Wariboko holds a BSc in Economics (First Class Honors) from the University of Port Harcourt, an MBA in Finance and Accounting from Columbia University, and a PhD in Economic Ethics from Princeton Theological Seminary.
In addition to his academic roles, Wariboko was appointed the Director of the African Studies Center at Boston University in 2024. His scholarship focuses on the intersection of social ethics, economic development, African social traditions, and Pentecostal studies. He has authored over 30 books and more than 100 journal articles and book chapters, contributing significantly to the fields of Christian ethics, African studies, and global Pentecostalism.
Wariboko’s work is characterized by a transdisciplinary approach, blending insights from theology, philosophy, economics, and African traditions to address contemporary issues of social justice, poverty, and economic development.
