Top Highlights

“Napoleon Bonaparte and the Apostle Paul are the most renowned prisoners of history. One was in prison because the peace of the world demanded it; the other because he sought to give to men that peace which the world cannot give and which the world cannot take away. One had the recollection of cities and homes which he had wasted and devastated; the other had the recollection of homes and cities and nations which had been blessed by his presence and cheered by his message.” (Volume 1, Number 12, Page 12)

“The resurrection of the Lord Jesus is the foundation of our hope. It was a confirmation of what he declared as truth when he lived; it was a proof of the doctrine of the immortality of the soul; it was a pledge that all who are united to him will be raised up.—Albert Barnes.” (Volume 1, Number 14, Page 23)

“Free men and nations do not long remain free unless they understand what freedom is and promote it with an enthusiasm that exceeds the vigor of untruth.” (Volume 1, Number 1, Page 9)

“the Blessed Hope is that reunion with Christ which ‘occurs at the Revelation of Christ in glory’” (Volume 1, Number 6, Page 35)

“In the Reformed tradition, therefore, it is the primary task of the Church to bring men and women into this saving relationship with Jesus Christ.” (Volume 1, Number 1, Page 12)

The articles of Christianity Today are certainly worth reading. The writers are skilled and explain it in a clear manner through their works. By reading these articles a broad interest and understanding can be developed of the richness of Christianity. On the one hand, some of these articles were not relevant to me. Since much has changed in the global settings from 1956 -1957 till now. On the other hand, other articles contained many interesting insights for our days. At last, these articles contain a rich plethora of topics and give us a perfect excuse for reading as a moment of leisure during the day.
