For California residents and other states, laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) requires that Logos inform you of the categories of personal information collected and the purposes for which it will be used.
Categories of Personal Information We Collect
- Identifiers: Your name, alias, email, User ID, login credentials, external ID (e.g., Liberty Student ID), IP address, or other device/account-linked identifiers.
- Personal Information: Contact details (e.g., phone, address), or payment and billing details for Affiliate Subscriptions or other consumer purchases.
- Commercial Information: Products or services purchased, obtained, or considered, or other purchasing or consuming histories or tendencies.
- Internet & Application Activity: Browsing/search history, software feature usage (e.g., clicks, app launches), and engagement metrics.
- Location Data: Geolocation data such as device location.
- Employment Information: Job title, role (e.g., Faculty, Staff).
- Non-Public Education Information subject to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA): Student enrollment, role (e.g., learner/instructor), course/term details, status (active/inactive), and performance in Logos software (e.g., textbook claims, course progress).
- Other Educational and Usage Information: Interactions with textbooks (e.g., app launch, pages viewed, time spent, annotations), Bible engagement and views, and assigned Reading Plans (e.g. plan name, session dates, completion status).
- Inferences: Profiles based on your preferences, academic interests, spiritual engagement, or learning patterns from Logos interactions.
Purposes for Which it Will be Collected and Used
- To Provide and Maintain Our Software Services: Deliver core functionality, manage accounts, authenticate access, provide technical support, distribute licenses and deliver textbooks/Reading Plans.
- For Internal Analytics and Service Improvement: Analyze usage to troubleshoot issues, enhance user experience, develop new features, and improve the performance and security of Logos Services.
- To personalize your experience when using Logos Services, provide content recommendations, and target our marketing messages and promotions to groups of our users.
- To analyze how users engage with educational content, assess navigation efficiency, and gauge time spent on learning activities to enhance content effectiveness and user experience. And to demonstrate the value of our platform to current and prospective partners, inform renewal and partnership strategies, and conduct research into the efficacy of digital learning approaches.
- To Comply with Legal Obligations: Meet legal, regulatory, or contractual requirements (e.g., FERPA, GDPR, CCPA) and protect the security and interests of Logos or others.
Sale or Sharing of Personal Information
Your Logos access is provided in conjunction with Liberty University. As such, certain aspects of your personal information – your name, email address, zip code, and affiliate persona – will be shared with Liberty University and processed by it for its research and other business purposes, including marketing its program and offerings, as provided in Liberty University’s Privacy Policy. This sharing of information may qualify as a “sale” under some privacy laws, including the CCPA.

How Long We Keep Information
We cultivate long term relationships with our users, and we keep information about you until (if applicable) you ask us to delete it, or we no longer need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it -- which are described in the section above on How and Why We Use Information--and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. You should expect us to retain personal information associated with your Logos Account indefinitely, but things like email interaction behavior or usage logs for shorter periods of time, ranging from 30 to 450 days.
