About Beta Testing
Logos Bible Software Series X is based on the Libronix Digital Library System. Libronix Corporation is owned by Logos Research Systems, Inc, so the latest version of the Libronix DLS is most often available through the Logos Bible Software beta releases.
Beta testing is a fun way to be part of the product's design and growth and to get an early preview of upcoming features.
Beta testing is open to everyone. You do not need to get on any special list.
Announcements of new releases are made on the web site and in our beta forum, where an active and monitored discussion of the latest beta is always underway.
Important Warnings
Alpha, Beta, and RC releases are not supported. The technical support department can not help with beta releases. Please send bug reports to titusbeta@libronix.com.
- Alpha releases are very early drops of the software intended for dedicated testers. Alpha releases may not be stable, may introduce file formats that will change or become unsupported in the future, and should not be installed on machines relied on for your daily work. They usually include known bugs. Alpha releases are best installed on a second machine or even a dedicated testing system.
- Beta releases are considered reasonably stable drops of the software, but may share some of the instabilities of an alpha release. Beta releases should be installed only by users who are willing to endure some broken functionality, to provide feedback in our beta forum, and who are willing (if necessary) to manually delete or move files or registry keys.
- RC is the designation for release candidates. An RC release is intended to be suitable for "burning and pressing" onto a CD-ROM. Only critical bugs will be fixed. RC builds should be suitable for installation by almost any user.
It is not easy to uninstall an alpha or beta release. It is not possible to run the shipping version and an alpha or beta release at the same time.
During the alpha and beta stages Logos may unlock features or resources that will be sold separately after release. Not every feature available in an alpha or beta release will be included in final releases, and some features may be withdrawn. Most alpha and beta releases will have an expiration date at which point some new features may return to a locked and non-functional state.
Users who are not comfortable with beta testing may want to install the Power Tools addin — a collection of more advanced features that is available to work with the currenty shipping version of the Libronix DLS.
