The purpose of this section is to expose you to a variety of tools that are not readily seen from the home page.

Menu: Bible Comparison

Parallel Bible Versions & Compare Versions

This report will assist you in viewing and comparing two or more Bible side by side. In fact, you can visually see where the word differences exist.

  • Assignment: Watch the video (2:14, 2.1MB).
  • Exercise: Go to the main menu, Choose ‘Tools’, next click ‘Bible Comparison’, then choose “Parallel Bible Versions”, enter “1 John 1:7”, in the versions box type KJV, NASB95, NI, then press the green ‘go’ button
  • Question: Which translation is different from the other two?

Passage in All Versions

This report will display your favorite passages in a row by row format.

  • Assignment: Watch the video (2:18, 3.13MB).
  • Exercise: Click the “My Library” icon and type KJV in the “find” box, click on the title “The King James Version”, click the “close” button if “My Library” is still open. Next, go to the main menu, Choose ‘Tools’, next click ‘Bible Comparison’, then choose “Passage in All Versions”. Click the silver chain icon on the King James Bible and choose “Set A” from the menu. Do this again for the “Passage in All Versions” report. Click the green “GO” arrow. View the report.

Compare Pericopes

There is no easier way to compare how each translation divides the bible into chapter and paragraphs.

Bible Version Difference River

This report provides a “forest through the trees” comparison of one translation compared to several other translations. It is recommended that your verse range be a least one chapter.

  • Assignment: Watch the video (2:47, 3.49MB).
  • Exercise: Click on one of the grid lines in the Bible Version Difference River.
  • Question: Which report was displayed?

Menu: Bible Data

Lectionary Viewer

The lectionary viewer organizes your lectionary reading by providing the Biblical references for daily readings, the Biblical text for easy reading, as well as displaying the seasonal colors.

  • Assignment: Watch the video (1:47, 2.31MB).
  • Exercise: Click the “Properties” button. Check the box labeled “Include Biblical Text”, click the “OK” button.
  • Assignment: Read the article Creating Your Own Lectionary.

Timelines

See the kings, their judges, and corresponding Old Testament prophets organized by time as well as other significant dates.

  • Assignment: Watch the video (2:05, 2.41MB).
  • Exercise: Go to the main menu, click “Tools”, then click “Bible Data”. Then click “Timelines”, then click the “Choose Timelines…” button. Click the box labeled “Israel’s Judges”, click the triangle to expand this section, and uncheck the box labeled “L.J. Wood”. Click the “OK” button.
  • Question: What are the three dates that represent the beginning of the reign of Othniel?

Weights and Measures

There is no easier way to take biblical data regarding weights and measures and finds it equivalency with modern standards.

  • Assignment: Watch the video (2:05, 3.08MB).
  • Exercise: Go to the main menu, click “Tools”, then click “Bible Data”, then click “Weights and Measures”, enter “1 Pound” in the white box labeled “convert”, press enter.
  • Question: How many shekels are in the 1 pound (English not Roman).

Bible Puzzles

Doing word find puzzles is fun, but creating your own in reference to the scriptures is really exciting.

  • Assignment: Watch the video (2:22, 2.22MB).
  • Exercise: Go to the main menu, choose “Tools”, then choose “Bible Puzzles”, then choose “word find”. Enter “Genesis 1” in the white verse box and press the green “GO” arrow.
