How to create hyperlinks to Libronix books from other applications

How to create hyperlinks to Libronix books from other applications

Prerequisites

In order to create a hyperlink to a Libronix book you will need the free Power Tools addin. If you do not have the Power Tools Addin, follow these instructions to install it.

Once you have installed Power Tools follow the instructions below for the application you are using.

Linking from Microsoft Word, FrontPage, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Open Libronix and navigate to the location in the resource you want to link to.
  • Make sure that it is the active window and go to  Favorites | Copy Location to Clipboard.  You will not see anything happen, but Libronix will have placed a reference to this location in the Windows clipboard.
  • Open the MS Office application in which you are going to create the link (e.g., MS Word).
  • Select the text that will become the hyperlink and then press Ctrl+K on your keyboard to open the Insert Hyperlink dialog.
  • Click in the Address box of the Insert Hyperlink dialog and then press Ctrl+V to paste the location that was copied in Libronix.
  • Close the Insert Hyperlink dialog.
  • Click on the hyperlinked text to open Libronix to the appropriate location.

Linking from WordPerfect

  • Open Libronix and navigate to the location in the resource you want to link to.
  • Make sure that it is the active window and go to Favorites | Copy Location to Clipboard.  You will not see anything happen, but Libronix will have placed a reference to this location in the Windows clipboard.
  • Open the WordPerfect document in which you are going to create the link.
  • Select the text that will become the hyperlink and then (on the menu bar) click Tools | Hyperlink. This opens the hyperlink dialog box where the default location in that box is "Document/Macro" (it’s already selected).
  • Press Ctrl+V, or right click and click Paste.
  • Close the Hyperlink dialog.
  • Click on the hyperlinked text to open Libronix to the appropriate location.

Hyperlink Usage

Hyperlinks created with this procedure will function on any machine that has Libronix installed and has the linked book unlocked. This means you can also create web pages with links that will activate Libronix and open it to a particular location in a particular resource. As previously stated, however, this will only apply to users who have the appropriate book unlocked in their Libronix Digital Library System.

If you are having problems using the hyperlink, open the Tools | Options | Power Tools dialog, change to the Copy Location tab, and ensure that Encode Location for HTML is unchecked.
