Copy Text without Footnotes and Citations

Copy Text without Footnotes and Citations

NOTE: The Copy Bible Verses tool is currently available only for Windows users.

In Libronix you can create your own styles in the Copy Bible Verses tool to customize the way Bible text is copied and pasted into your word processor. Non-Bible text can be copied without footnotes and citations as well.

Creating a new Copy Bible Verses style

Follow these steps to create a new Copy Bible Verses style that will copy and paste text, without footnotes and bibliographic citations, into Word or other word processor:

  1. Open the Copy Bible Verses dialog (click on the black Bible icon on the right side of the Windows Taskbar, by the clock).
  2. In the Copy Bible Verses dialog, click on the Customize button.
  3. In the Manage Styles dialog, click on the New button.
  4. In the New Style dialog, click into the Name field and type a name for your new style, such as "No Footnotes/Citations."
  5. Leave the Copy Footnotes and Include Bibliographic Citation boxes unchecked.
  6. If you want text before or after each passage, click into the appropriate field and click on Special to choose Full Passage Reference, Short Passage Reference, or other text.
  7. Choose to Copy All Text or Copy Bible Text Only.  You will see an example of the style in the box just above the OK and Cancel buttons.
  8. Click OK to save the new style.
  9. Check the Style Preview window in the Manage Styles dialog. If the text is displayed correctly, click Close. Otherwise, click on Modify and make additional changes to your style. Click OK and Close when complete.

Copying and pasting 'Bible' text using the newly-created style

Follow one of the two methods below to copy and paste Bible text, without footnotes and bibliographic citations, into Word or other word processor:

Method 1 (automatic)

  1. Open the Copy Bible Verses dialog (click on the black Bible icon on the Windows taskbar).
  2. Type a passage in the Passage field.
  3. Select a Bible version from the Version drop-down list.
  4. Choose Microsoft Word or other program from the Target drop-down list.
  5. Select  "No Footnotes/Citations" (or the name you typed) from the Style drop-down list.
  6. Click on Copy and Paste.  (If the Copy and Paste button is grayed-out, click on Copy, then open your Target program and choose the Paste option in that program.)

Method 2 (manual)

  1. Open the Copy Bible Verses dialog and select the No Footnotes/Citations style from the Style drop-down list. Close the dialog window. (This step will not have to be performed again, unless the Copy Bible Verses style has been changed.)
  2. Open a Bible and select the text you want to copy.
  3. Right-click in the selection and choose Copy [passage] to Clipboard (ie. Copy John 3:16-17 to Clipboard -- see example).
  4. Open your Target program, such as Microsoft Word, and click on Edit | Paste (or click the Paste button on the toolbar).

Copying and pasting 'non-Bible' text from Commentaries, etc.

  1. Open a non-Bible resource and select the text you want to copy.
  2. Right-click in the selection and choose Selected Text: "..." > Copy.  (See example below.)
  3. Open your Target program, such as Microsoft Word, and click on Edit | Paste (or click the Paste button on the toolbar).
