Configuring Logos Bible Software -- Suggested Settings

The following are standard configurations recommended to those who are new to the Libronix Digital Library System. To use the software to its fullest capabilities, please visit to watch our free online tutorial videos. Keep in mind that both the suggestions below and the videos are based on a representative collection and may portray features or books not included in the collection or product you own.

I. Home Page

  1. Click on Customize View, which is below the date on the Logos Bible Software home page. (Click on image below to expand.)
  2. Choose your Preferred Bible and Commentary.
    1. Select the KJV or NASB95 if you want the Strong's Number information to pop-up when the mouse hovers over a word (see KeyLink Display options below).
    2. Select a commentary that is broken down by 'chapter' rather than 'paragraph', such as "The Bible Knowledge Commentary."
    3. You will have access to all the commentaries in the Passage Guide report.
  3. Select the sections of the home page you want displayed. If you want the Bible Only, Bible and Commentary, and Exegetical Guide options included under Study Passage, select Show Study Options. Suggested setting: select all the options in the My Library section.
  4. Click on Save Changes at the top or bottom of the home page when finished.

II. KeyLink Display Options

To view Strong's Numbers in pop-up window in the KJV or NASB95:

  1. Click on Tools | Options | KeyLink.
  2. Click on the Display panel on the left.
  3. Select Greek Strong's Number from the Data Type drop-down list.
  4. Select Preview KeyLink in Tip Window from the When the Mouse Hovers Over a Data Type Reference drop-down list.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the Hebrew Strong's Number Data Type.
  6. Click Close.

III. English KeyLink Option

Use primarily for 'Study Word':

  1. Click on Tools | Options | KeyLink.
  2. Click on the KeyLinking panel on the left.
  3. Select English from the Data Type drop-down list.
  4. Select Harper's Bible Dictionary from the Default Order of Resources and Actions list.
  5. Click on Promote.
  6. Click Close.

IV. Text Display

To increase/decrease the display size (zoom) of fonts in resources and/or reports. If you are satisfied with the current display, you can skip this section:

  1. Click on Tools | Options | General.
  2. Click on the Text Display panel on the left.
  3. Select your preferred percentage from the Default Zoom drop-down list. Suggested settings: 110% or 125%.
  4. Deselect Use Default Zoom Only with Resources to increase/decrease the zoom level in Search Results, Passage Guide, and other report windows, as well as Resources.

V. Compare Bible Versions

Allows you to select the Bible versions used in the Compare Versions section of the 'Passage Guide': 

  1. Click on Tools | Options | KeyLink.
  2. Click on the KeyLinking panel on the left.
  3. Select Bible from the Data Type drop-down list.
  4. Select a Bible from the Default Order of Resources and Actions list and click on Promote to add it to the Resource or Action to Use First list.
    1. The Bible version that appears at the top of the Resource or Action to Use First list is your preferred Bible.
    2. Select five more Bible versions to promote. A sample list of the most popular selling Bible versions are: The King James Version, English Standard Version, The New International Version, The New King James Version, and the New Living Translation.
  5. This list of Bibles can also be changed in the Properties of the Compare Parallel Bible Versions report (Tools | Bible Comparison | Compare Parallel Bible Versions).

VI. Exegetical Guide

  1. Below are three ways to generate an Exegetical Guide report:
    1. Select Exegetical Guide under the Study Passage section of the home page, if Show Study Options is enabled (see Home Page above). Type a passage in the Study Passage box and click Go!.
    2. Click on Exegetical Guide under Other Tools in the upper right corner of the Passage Guide window.
    3. Click on the Exegetical Guide button on the main toolbar. 
  2. In the Exegetical Guide window, click on the Properties button on the report toolbar.
    1. Select a Bible from the Resource drop-down list. Suggested setting: ESV NT Rev. Int. | The ESV English-Greek Reverse Interlinear New Testament.
    2. Select the sections you would like to appear in the Exegetical Guide report, such as Grammars, Visualizations, Apparatus, etc.
    3. Enable the Word by Word section and select the parts of speech you want the report to analyze. Suggested settings: Verb and Noun.
    4. Click OK to save changes.

VII. Define Resource Associations

To group your favorite Bibles so you can navigate from one to another using the 'current reference' box of a resource window:

  1. Click on Tools | Library Management | Define Resource Associations.
    [This feature requires the Power Tools Addin. If you do not have that menu option, click on Tools | Libronix Update. Expand the Optional section in the update window and check the User Interface-English (United States) box to select all the optional addins. Click Update, closing the main Libronix program window when prompted.]
  2. Choose Serial and click on New.

  3. Type a name for your new serial resource association, such as "My Favorite Bibles."
  4. Select a Bible from the resource list on the left and click Add until all of your favorites are listed on the right under Resources.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Close.
