Program loads but then freezes

Program loads but then freezes

Problem:

Libronix loads part way but I have no Home Page and it locks once I try to do some action within the program.

  • The program will generally freeze after a few clicks and the user must use the End Task command (in the Windows Task Manager window) to exit Libronix.

Solution:

There are three possible solutions; try them in the following order:

Check Compatibility Mode:

  • Right-click on the "Libronix Digital Library System" shortcut on the Windows Desktop.
  • Choose Properties from the menu.
  • Click on the Compatibility tab.
  • Make sure none of the checkboxes are selected and click OK

Delete Temporary Internet Files according to instructions below for Internet Explorer 6 or 7:

Internet Explorer 6:

  1. Close Libronix.
  2. Open Internet Explorer.
  3. Click on Tools | Internet Options.
  4. On the General tab, under Temporary Internet Files, click on Delete Files.
  5. Check the box next to Delete all offline content and click OK. (Note: This operation may take some time.)
  6. When finished, click OK to close the Internet Options window. 
  7. Close Internet Explorer and try running Libronix Digital Library System again.

Internet Explorer 7:

  1. Close Libronix.
  2. Open Internet Explorer.
  3. Click on Tools | Internet Options.
  4. On the General tab, under Browsing history, click on Delete.
  5. Under Temporary Internet Files, click on Delete files, then Yes. (Note: This operation may take some time.)
  6. When finished, click Close and OK to close the Delete Browsing History and Internet Options windows.
  7. Close Internet Explorer and try running Libronix Digital Library System again.

Rename User Preferences:

Windows XP:

  • Open My Computer and navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Libronix DLS\Library. If the Application Data folder is not visible, you will need to change the windows setting so you can see hidden folders:
    • Click on Tools | Folder Options. Click on the View tab, select Show hidden files and folders, and click OK
  • Right-click on the Preferences folder, choose Rename, and change the folder name to OldPreferences; press Enter.
  • Open Libronix. If it is performing properly, leave the new Preferences folder and delete OldPreferences. If the performance has not improved, close Libronix, delete the new Preferences folder and rename OldPreferences back to its original name.

Windows Vista:

  • Open Computer and navigate to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Libronix DLS\Library. If the AppData folder is not visible, you will need to change the windows setting so you can see hidden folders:
    • Click on Organize | Folder and Search Options. Click on the View tab, select Show hidden files and folders, and click OK
  • Right-click on the Preferences folder, choose Rename, and change the folder name to OldPreferences; press Enter.
  • Open Libronix. If it is performing properly, leave the new Preferences folder and delete OldPreferences. If the performance has not improved, close Libronix, delete the new Preferences folder and rename OldPreferences back to its original name.
