Using Logos 4 with Carbonite About Indexing

Note: You must have a Logos 4 Base Package for Logos 4 to function fully. If you do not already own a base package, please see 4 Ways to Get Logos 4.

Click here to learn more about what to expect when you’re installing Logos 4 from the internet. If you have download constraints, you may want to install your software by DVD (see Option #2). If you did not originally purchase the DVD version of the software, you can purchase a DVD for a nominal fee.

Option #1 Downloading Logos 4

Click here to install Logos 4.

  • Choose "Run" and follow the prompts to install the program. If your browser only gives you a “Save” option, click “Save” and then double click on the file from your download bar or Downloads folder to run the install.
  • If at the end of the install Logos does not automatically open and request your email and password, you can use the Logos 4 icon on your desktop to open it. Sign in to the program with your Logos.com email and password. (You can reset your password here if you don't know what it is.)

At this point, the newly installed program will start with two lengthy processes:

  1. Preparing or downloading your library. This process requires internet connection as it is pulling up all of your past licenses and downloading the corresponding book files to your computer.
  2. Indexing your library. During this step, no internet connection is required, but the computer must not be turned off until it is complete (the computer may be on Sleep or Hibernate without disturbing the indexing process). More information about indexing see the indexing training page.

After indexing is complete, Logos 4 will be completely configured and ready to use.

Option #2 Installing From Your DVD

  1. Insert the DVD into the computer. If you do not already have a Logos 4 DVD: You can order an installation DVD here.
  2. If an Auto Run window appears, click on Run Setup.exe, otherwise go to Start > Computer and double-click on the Logos 4 icon displayed by your DVD drive.
  3. Follow the prompts to install Logos 4.
  4. When prompted to Sign In to logos.com, enter your email and password for Logos.com and click “Sign In” (you can reset your password here if you don’t know what it is).

At this point, the newly installed program will start with two lengthy processes:

  1. Preparing or downloading your library. This process requires internet connection as it is pulling up all your past licenses and downloading the corresponding book files to your computer.
  2. Indexing your library. During this step, no internet connection is required but the computer must not be turned off until it is complete (the computer may be on Sleep or Hibernate without disturbing the indexing process). For more information about indexing see the indexing training page.

After these steps have been completed, Logos 4 will be ready to use.
