Top Highlights

“Sovereignty is lordship, lordship is ownership, and ownership is control.” (Page 236)

“The third way that God relates to the world is through miracles, which are acts of God that are contrary to natural law.” (Pages 163–164)

“First is the kind of divine activity that is in view, namely, preserving and governing” (Pages 139–140)

“The idea of providence is not really derived from any particular biblical terminology. It is rather a doctrine or a concept that appears on nearly every page of Scripture, to which the term providence has been appropriately attached. Our understanding of providence comes from a thorough study of the teaching of Scripture as a whole, and not from the way a few words are used.” (Page 139)

“The first way in which God relates to the world is called general providence. This includes primarily the realm of nature and refers mostly to the unvarying works of God in preserving the universe in existence and directing its natural processes according to the predictable patterns we call the ‘laws of nature.’” (Page 163)
