Overview

I have been preaching through Luke at my church now for probably over 2 1/2 years. I have used many commentaries, some exegetical and some more expository and devotional. I absolutely love Darrell Bock for his exegetical commentaries (and his little IVP volume). But for expository help and further insight into the text, Phil Ryken (REC) is absolutely superb. I have consistently found it to be exegetically responsible (he has done his homework) and full of theological and applicational insight. I recommend these volumes very highly indeed, both for pastors and lay people who want to study the book. It is easy to understand, even though it has great depth.
