Overview

One of the Old Testament’s most enigmatic prophecies is Ezekiel’s vision of a new, restored temple in Jerusalem. Some dismiss the notion of a rebuilt temple as irrelevant to both the Christian faith and modern society.

But what if Ezekiel’s prophetic vision is true and will come to pass? What would a restored temple look like? How would it operate? When would it be built? How would the temple relate to the return of the Messiah?

Based on extensive research and discussions with leading rabbis in both the United States and Israel, the authors provide a complete and accurate picture of Israel’s future house of worship.

Top Highlights

“The sacrifices described in Ezekiel will provide those who enter the messianic age as sinful humans, an opportunity to respond to God by remembering what Jesus did on the cross. These sacrifices will provide a means of worship and fellowship with God, not appeasement of God’s wrath over sin. They will be a remembrance of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.” (Page 159)

“It is of extreme importance to note that the author of Hebrews is not saying all sacrifices are forever banned, but that no sacrifice can take the place of Jesus’ supreme and complete sacrifice for sin and its consequences.” (Page 147)

“Ezekiel indicates that major changes have been made to the altar of sacrifice, both in its shape and approach.” (Page 181)

“Someday—and no one knows when—we shall wake up to the news that the Dome of the Rock no longer stands on the Temple Mount. God’s Word predicts that another Temple is coming. This future Temple will be grander than Solomon’s Temple or Herod’s Temple and will become more significant than any previous Temple. This Temple will be the future center for world government.” (Page 17)

“While the Second Temple was completely remodeled by Herod, it is regarded by historians as one and the same as the Temple built by the Jewish exiles upon their return from Babylon. The Jews are thus awaiting the building of the Third Temple.” (Page 40)
