Overview

The Living God draws us into an exhilarating exploration of who God is. We encounter a personal God who longs for a relationship with us; an almighty God whose greatness is simply beyond our understanding; a creator God, in whose image we are made; and a profound God who we discover to be three, yet one.

This is the second volume in McGrath's "Christian Belief for Everyone" - and I've read it immediately following the first volume (haven't purchased the 3rd volume yet, but it is on my wish list - as will other volumes be). Like the first volume, this is a reasonably short book of just over 100 pages - and is very accessible. In this second volume, the Author boldly tackles the Christian Belief of God. No trivial matter in 100 pages ;-) I found this to be an excellent introduction for both young and old, to the Christian understanding of God - and especially to the handling of the Trinity. The Author develops the topic well, and whilst noting traditional attempts at explaining God - such as Paley's watchmaker - also points out the weaknesses. This leads to the strength in his argument for the mystery that is inherent in the Trinity. A nice addition for the next edition would be a "For Further Reading" section. Well worth reading for all Christians, and for those interested in what Christians believe.
