For nearly 30 years, the Journal of Biblical Counseling (previously the Journal of Pastoral Practice) of CCEF (the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation) has provided a forum for biblical counseling’s development and application. The journal’s mission is to develop clear thinking and effective practice in biblical counseling through articles that faithfully bring the God of truth, mercy, and power to the issues faced by ministries of counseling and discipleship.
“Who is God? Second, knowing Him teaches you to speak directly into people’s lives.” (Page 15)
“Third, the biggest hindrance to understanding arises within our own hearts.” (Page 10)
“Similarly, the prophecies, the songs and prayers, the commandments and principles, and the stories of the Old Testament become supercharged with the presence, power, and glory of the Holy Spirit by whom Jesus Christ indwells and rules His people. They are tailored to the needs of a different people living in a different time facing recognizable but different problems and tasks.” (Page 5)
“Ephesians aims to teach you how to live. That is a synonym for counseling biblically, for doing face-to-face, personal ministry.” (Page 2)
“But I am arguing that good living, preaching, praying, counseling, conversing, teaching, meditating, and singing all do something with Scripture. ‘Wisdom’ and ‘living faith’ necessarily embody creative adaptations, applications, and personalizations.” (Page 9)
