For nearly 30 years, the Journal of Biblical Counseling (previously the Journal of Pastoral Practice) of CCEF (the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation) has provided a forum for biblical counseling’s development and application. The journal’s mission is to develop clear thinking and effective practice in biblical counseling through articles that faithfully bring the God of truth, mercy, and power to the issues faced by ministries of counseling and discipleship.
“But when you see God only through those experiences, you distort God. The Bible turns this upside down. Don’t start from your experiences and work up to God. Start from God and work down to your experiences, whether past or present. Define who God is, and then bring that to bear on what’s happening in your life.” (Page 9)
“First, history is always accompanied by explanation” (Page 13)
“What Paul is talking about in ‘mind’ in Romans 12:2 is a much more comprehensive change: thoughts, affections, will, conscience, memory, desires, beliefs, and attitudes.” (Page 19)
“Remembering the past is an interpretive activity. Remembering is active, selective, creative.” (Page 15)
“When you move from your experience to God, you always distort God.” (Page 9)
