Overview

Martyn Lloyd-Jones was among the finest evangelical preachers of the twentieth century. His sermons at London's Westminster Chapel drew large crowds and stirred the hearts and minds of his congregation. He was a man to challenge the passions of the evangelical soul! His published works have sold hundreds of thousands of copies and many of his books remain in print to this day.

Tony Sargent has spent many years studying the works of Martin Lloyd-Jones and putting together quotations on a wide range of topics. This anthology of carefully chosen quotations, drawn from across the vast range of Lloyd Jones' sermons, is profitable for preachers, teachers and Christians seeking spiritual wisdom and inspiration. Entries are organized alphabetically by topic to aid quick and easy use.

Top Highlights

“but who for some reason or other never forsake all else and embrace it with a whole heart” (Page 146)

“It is the sinner who has had a glimpse into hell who is most appreciative of the glories of heaven.” (Page 70)

“Is there not a real danger of our becoming guilty of a very subtle form of Arminianism if we maintain that correct doctrine and understanding are essential to our being used by the Spirit of God … I said that John Wesley was to me the greatest proof of Calvinism. Why? Because in spite of his faulty thinking he was greatly used of God to preach the gospel and to convert souls! That is the ultimate proof of Calvinism, predestination and election.” (Page 10)

“Unfallen Adam was righteous, but it was his own righteousness as a created being, it was the righteousness of a man. Adam never had the righteousness of Jesus Christ upon him. What he lost was his own righteousness. But you and I are not merely given back a human righteousness, the righteousness that Adam had before he fell—we are given the righteousness of Jesus Christ.” (Page 2)

“If you want to seek anything, if you want to be anxious about anything, be anxious about your spiritual condition, your nearness to God and your relationship to Him. If you put that first, worry will go; that is the result.” (Page 9)
