Overview

We live in a time when marital fidelity is under assault. Driven by forces of relativism, our society assaults sexual fidelity on numerous fronts. The push for homosexual marriages, for example, comes at the end of the fall into perversion, not the beginning. Faithless husbands began the fall long ago, and our culture, with all its washed-out self-help books, fails to address the real problem—sin.

Addressed to men, Fidelity hits hard, using clear language, focusing on specific sins with specific solutions: adultery, divorce, polygamy, celibacy, pornography, and more. But in the end, the antidote to all sexual temptation is simple—the godly honoring of the marriage bed.

Top Highlights

“One of the more important lessons for us to learn is that while the occasions for sin are external and ‘out there,’ the real problem is with our lusts within.” (Page 22)

“The fifth thing men must do is run away—flee the occasions of sin.” (Page 35)

“Sin reigns in a Christian when that Christian does what his mortal body tells him to. ‘Hey, would you take a look at her!’ Resistance must continue as long as the body has desires which are contrary to the law of God, which is to say, until we die. We must set ourselves against these things constantly.” (Pages 26–27)

“We are fallen creatures, and even as Christians our redemption is not yet completed. We must still deal with the fact that we will confront desires, coming from within ourselves, which are attractive to us by virtue of the fact that they are prohibited by God.” (Page 25)

“The best thing he can do is to prepare for marriage by learning to be a godly Christian in his current condition and working hard to provide in advance for his future wife.” (Page 36)
