About Rudolf Pesch

Rudolf Pesch (1936–2011) was professor of biblical studies at the University of Frankfurt. In 1984 Pesch left the academic world and entered a formal community now known as the Catholic Integrated Community where he remained until he moved to Israel where he served as the “Beth Shalmon” in Motsa Illit, a meeting place for Christians and Jews near Jerusalem. During this time he also became a member of the Ecumenical Theological Research Fraternity in Israel. In 2008 he began teaching at the Institute of the Theology of the people of God and, later, at the Pontifical Lateran University. His main areas of research included the Gospel of Mark and the Acts of the Apostles. His works include commentaries on Mark, Acts, and Romans, as well as Paul and his Favorite Church, Jesus Held the Last Supper, Between Good Friday and Easter.
