A generation later, when the Book of Acts closes, the gospel had been preached as far west as Rome; and there was a thriving Christian church in almost every city of significance in the eastern part of the empire. What began as a Jewish sect in A.D. 30 had grown into a world religion by A.D. 60. The details, all too few, are found in the Acts of the Apostles.” (Page 7)

This was not an unmitigated tragedy, for had Jerusalem continued to be the center of Christian worship Christianity might never have become a world religion.
