Overview

Changing Church illuminates the exciting things that are happening right now by the power of the Holy Spirit. C. Peter Wagner reveals exactly how you can contribute to the church’s fulfillment of God’s kingdom on earth in the Second Apostolic Age.

The church is being aligned with God’s plan for the Great Harvest, but to help God’s will be done on earth, we must recognize his intent and work together to achieve it. While we might feel small in the scheme of things, just like Calvin and Luther of the Protestant Reformation, we can make a huge impact when we unite with what God is doing worldwide. This new vision overlooks denominational barriers, asking one and all to join together for the ultimate fulfillment of God’s purposes. Be a history maker, and answer God’s call for radical change.

“The changes we are currently experiencing leave essential doctrines like this intact while at the same time reengineer the way that churches operate and carry out their daily activities.” (Page 10)

“However, the clearest Scripture related to the duration of the offices of apostle and prophet comes right after the list of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers in Ephesians 4:11. The Bible goes on to say that the purpose of these five offices is to equip ‘the saints for the work of ministry’ (Eph. 4:12). How long will they be needed? ‘Till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ’ (Eph. 4:13). Unless someone believes that we have actually reached that point, it is difficult to suppose that we no longer need the ministry of apostles and prophets.” (Page 33)

“Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets’ (Amos 3:7). The prophets clearly hear the voice of God. However, prophets typically are not gifted to know how to apply it to a given concrete situation. Implementing the will of God, generally speaking, is the task of apostles, those who are specially equipped to set things in order (see Titus 1:5).” (Pages 13–14)

“David Cartledge, to refer to the American Assemblies of God as ‘Pentecostal Cessationists.’4” (Page 30)

“prayers really have an effect on God’s decisions in certain circumstances” (Page 155)
