Overview

Scholarship on the history and development of Methodism has flourished as scholars and general readers have become aware of its importance as a world church—with approximately 40 million members in 300 Methodist denominations in 140 nations. Celebrations marking the 300th anniversary of the births of its founders, John and Charles Wesley, provided an additional focus on the evolution of the movement which became a church.

This invaluable handbook introduces the history, theology, and practice of Methodism. Essays from a variety of experts concentrate on key themes, methodology, and research problems for those interested in studying the origins and development of Methodism around the world.

This important volume needs to be on the bookshelves, and frequently in the hands, of all students of the worldwide family of Methodist and Wesleyan traditions.

Another vendor's electronic edition is $17 04 and I could get it today. At $23.99 it will probably be "gathering interest" for some time... like some of the pre-pubs that I have from 2015 that are still "gathering interest" as well. I used a hard copy as a source for a paper and liked what I saw of the book. Rating: Book at least 4-5 stars, price and waiting on pre-pub probably come in around 1-2. So I guess I will give it 3 stars.
