Overview

Edited by scholars Stanley E. Porter and Cynthia Long Westfall, the McMaster New Testament Studies series gathers cutting-edge scholarship from around the world. These three volumes from the series address the church’s mission, history, and relationship with governments.

In Christian Mission, an international cast of scholars examines God’s work through his people from the call of Abraham to the global spread of the Christian church. Then, The Church, Then and Now investigates the many forms the church has taken through the centuries in order to fulfill its divine mandate. Where the church failed to survive in a given context, the contributors provide detailed analysis, while also discussing the ministry patterns of the church throughout the world today. Finally, Empire in the New Testament explores how the New Testament authors treated the Roman Empire and its impact on their mission.

In the Logos editions, these volumes are enhanced by amazing functionality. Important terms link to dictionaries, encyclopedias, and a wealth of other resources in your digital library.
