Overview
This book is “for those who want to understand the origin and shape of the New Testament writings but are unable to find a comprehensive introduction that is neither repellingly technical nor appallingly trivial,” (from the Preface of the First Edition). Johnson’s book is an essential addition to the Logos library as it combines history and anthropology to introduce and investigate the works of the New Testament.
The completely revised and updated version of Johnson’s very successful introduction to the New Testament (1999) contains the entire original text with copious searching and researching features, plus hyper-links to the NRSV. Johnson organizes his presentation in six major sections:

"I was considering purchasing this, but unfortunately my school specifically requires the third edition. Also, it appears that the question from 2015 still remains unanswered.
