“People who describe the fish as a whale are incorrect. The correct translation is ‘great fish’ or ‘large fish’ (Jonah 1:17). Jesus calls it a ‘huge fish’ (Matthew 12:40). The biological identification of the fish is not the important point of the story.” (Page 40)

“Bible reading as an adventure—an opportunity to know God, and his Son Jesus Christ” (Page 7)

“Always ask God to send his Holy Spirit to illuminate the passage for you. Write down the Bible reference, and jot down your question. Then ask an experienced Christian, or read a reference book about the passage. When you do find the answer, be sure to write it down next to your question.” (Page 7)

“Bible dictionaries are ideal books for looking up individual Bible words, Bible people and Bible themes” (Page 13)

“Bible atlases are ideal for increasing our understanding of the Bible” (Page 13)
