Overview

The Lord's Prayer is the only pattern prayer the Lord Jesus provided and is timeless in purpose and function. It indicates how we are to pray throughout our life in this present world. Its truths do not change. The necessity for us to be reminded of them is essential. The Lord's Prayer reminds us, at its very beginning, that true worship of God arises from a living relationship with him as our Father through our Lord Jesus Christ.

“Testings are different from temptations in that Satan tempts to bring out the evil, but God tests to bring out the good. Satan tempts in order to destroy; God tests to prove our sincerity and increase our strength. Satan attacks when we are unsuspecting and unprepared; God never tests without providing a way of escape so that we may be able to bear all he permits (1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Peter 2:9).” (Page 138)

“Bread sums up our basic material needs. It stands for all the daily benefits we require such as food and clothing, housing and heating, and so forth. We are asking here for life’s necessities.” (Page 99)
