Overview

In very short, but poignant, devotional thoughts, H. Morden Bennett helps Christians pray through Advent, Christmas, and the day of Epiphany. These meditative suggestions guide Christians in a conversational or contemplative prayer with Jesus. These aren’t extensive readings meant to busy your mind—rather, you supply the prayer and conversation, and Bennett’s devotional provides back-up in case your prayer goes uninspired. For Advent, he provides a brief reading from Revelation, and leads you through passages of Revelation that harken back to the first coming of our Lord (with obvious allusions to his Second Coming). The devotions leading up to Christmas focus on the Beatitudes and the work of salvation Jesus has done for us—but especially, what Jesus has done for you. Finally, the meditations for the weeks after Christmas, leading to Epiphany, center our hearts on the birth and infancy of Christ—the Savior we have travelled so long to see.
