Top Highlights

“To do what we like always ends in immorality; to do what God would have us do always ends in growth in grace.” (source)

“Eternal life is the life Jesus lived; the life of God in a mortal being, transformed by God’s regenerating power into harmony with Himself.” (source)

“Any man would have known without His coming that it was wrong to take life, the law is written in him; any man would have known that immorality was wrong; but no man apart from Jesus Christ would believe that ‘my right to myself’ is the very essence of sin. When we realise what Jesus means when He says, ‘If you would be My disciple, give up your right to yourself to Me,’ we begin to understand that ‘the carnal mind is enmity against God.’ ‘I will not give up my right to myself; I will serve God as I choose.’ Jesus Christ came to remove this disposition of self-realisation.” (source)

“Spiritual maturity is not reached by the passing of the years, but by obedience to the will of God. Some people mature into an understanding of God’s will more quickly than others because they obey more readily, they more readily sacrifice the life of nature to the will of God, they more easily swing clear of little determined opinions. It is these little determined opinions, convictions of our own that won’t budge, that hinder growth in grace and makes us bitter and dogmatic, intolerant, and utterly un-Christlike.” (source)

“The religion of Jesus Christ is a religion of personal relationship to God and has nothing to do with possessions” (source)

Oswald Chambers

Oswald Chambers (1874–1917) was a prominent preacher, writer, and evangelist. He studied at The Art School in South Kensington, the University of Edinburg, and Dunoon Training School.

Chambers served as a YMCA chaplain to British Commonwealth soldiers during World War I. He also worked as a traveling speaker for the League of Prayer and as the main teacher of the Bible Training College. His preaching ministry reached Britain, America, and Japan.
