Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906–1945), a German theologian, pastor, and ecumenist, was a professor in Berlin, an uncompromising teacher in the Confessing Church, and a consistent opponent of National Socialism. Executed by Hitler at the end of World War II, his influence continues today as one of the most important theologians of the twentieth century. Bonhoeffer penned countless letters, portions of fiction, and several works on theology and ethics that have shaped modern religious thought. Life Together and The Cost of Discipleship are two examples of this modern martyr’s enduring legacy.

This volume is primarily important in the Logos edition for the new and previously un-printed documents and to a lesser degree the introductions, timelines and indices. Logos indexing will suffice on the last point for some. I would be at lest as interested for Logos to publish the one-volume Bonhoeffer Reader, which is based on the set. It's currently available via Kindle but without page numbers. I and my students (me to have the exact sections and page numbers I am assigning in a digital version) would find it very useful.

Er, this isn't included as a late edition to the Works: but it should be - since it's Vol 17 of them. And there wasn't even a suggestion that the 16 volumes would be "completed" by a 17th. Come on folks. Please improve your act. I'm beginning to feel like the victim of some sharp trading behaviour.
