Top Highlights

“Honesty will be one of the marks of those who follow the Lord” (Page 252)

“Their offense is not wealth itself but the way they are gaining it at the expense of their needy fellow-countrymen. They treat the poor like dirt under their feet.” (Page 251)

“also have no claim on the mercy of God. His choosing us for his own is a matter of pure” (Page 263)

“Hosea is called to love the unlovable, as the Lord himself does.” (Page 14)

“In the Lord’s relationship with Israel, all the wrong is on Israel’s side and all the undeserved love and care come from him. Yet even though Israel has gone her own uncaring way, the Lord woos her all over again. He pictures himself as a lover inviting his beloved to take a walk with him, so that he can speak tenderly to her. Why? Israel forgot the Lord. ‘Therefore I am now going to allure her,’ he says (verse 14). Just because she has forgotten him, he goes after her. He loves her so much that he will not let her go without making every attempt to win her back.” (Pages 27–28)
