The Christophanies
Overview
There are seventeen appearings subsequent to our Lord’s resurrection recorded in the New Testament; fourteen are passed, eleven of which were before His ascension and three after. The remaining three are future. He appeared on each occasion to accomplish a special object and to present special truths. In the embodiment of these truths we have, I believe, a complete history of the ways of God with men, down to the introduction into the world of the blessings they proclaim. In His manifestations in resurrection, the Lord had not only in mind to establish the fact of His resurrection, although they do establish it, but also, as I have already suggested, to bring in a fresh body of truth—of most precious truth. As briefly as possible I will indicate here the characteristic truth in each of the eleven appearings between His resurrection and His ascension.
