“And so the whole overarching idea here is that the believer under persecution, under unjust treatment, under punishment and even death, even death, should be willing to suffer knowing there is triumph because though he may die in the flesh as a man, he will live in the spirit according to the will of God.” (source)

“God sends trials to humble us. He sends trials to wean us from the world. He sends trials to call us to concentrate on eternal things. He sends trials to reveal to us what we really love. He sends trials to teach us the value of God’s favor and blessing. He sends trials to enable us to help others in their trials. He sends trials to develop in us greater strength for greater usefulness. And one I didn’t mention, sometimes He sends trials to chasten us for our sin and push us toward perfection. But James is concerned with primarily one reason God sends trials and that is to test the genuineness of our faith. As I put it last week, to measure the strength of our faith.” (source)

“It doesn’t mean you have to kill your personality. It doesn’t mean you have to become a robot. It doesn’t mean you have to become boring. It doesn’t mean you never give your opinion. But there needs to be deep down in your heart gentleness, quietness, that hidden part is precious in the sight of God. God prefers a woman like that.” (source)

“You’re not to be submissive if he commands you to do directly that which opposes the Word of God or commands you not to do that which the Word of God does command you to do. But apart from those things for which you are under the command of God, you must submit to your husband. Hupotasso again, line up under him.” (source)

I am forced to give this amazing product 4 out of 5 stars not because of John MacArthur but because of how Logos has designed this. @logos @faithlife please fix the following: literally no one looks up a sermon by the year it was preached. Maybe that is how GTY sent the file over to Logos idk, but no one says, "what was that sermon preached in 1974???" People look up sermons according to verse. By arranging this product according to year, instead of by verse you actually make it unsynchable with the Bible which is the whole point of Logos. This sermon archive is one big Bible Commentary and it won't synch to the Bible because instead of being arranged by chapter and verse it's organized from 1969-2014. Epic fail. If it were not for the "Sermon by Reference" at the very bottom of the table of contents, this product would be un-usable. If Logos would spend some time polishing this product up then it would be a 5 star product instead of a 4 star product. Please fix. Thank you for all that you do.

Really like the archive! It only goes to 2014. Will it be updated for 2015 to 2023?

I was hoping the audio was here to listen in the car, although over 3000 audio sermons wouldn't fit on my phone, so I'd have to download them anyway- or I can let the app read it, and I can adjust the pitch and speed, and choose from a huge number of voices. That's not perfect, but there are some advantages over an audio archive. Still, if I want to listen to an individual sermon recording, I can use the website link at the end of each sermon. Note that these are word for word transcripts. That may annoy some and appeal to others, or it may vary depending on purpose of use. There are no outlines given. It is 45 years worth of 40 minute sermons, roughly, word for word. Think of the search possibilities. There are also various lengthy indexes. I don't agree with everything John MacArthur says, but I don't know that I can pass that test myself. I do try to argue with him through the radio on occasion, but his decades of scholarship make him one of the preachers I listen to most.

It is good, but very wordy with no points or divisions. His commentaries are ten times better than his sermon archive.

He is indeed a good teacher
